Max expansion modules 32 slots. MAC/IP address. PROFIBUS DP Slave. The TM4ES4 Ethernet switch module, offering an Ethernet connection with 4 ports - The TM4PDPS1 Profibus DP slave module Modicon TM4 communication modules are assembled by simple interlocking on the left-hand side of the controllers and a bus expansion connector is used to distribute data and the power supply.
Each PROFINET device has three addresses: Device name, IP address, and MAC address. The name is a logical name assigned to the module. It normally indicates its location or purpose in the process. The Internet Protocol (IP) address is assigned by the IO Controller, when the connection to the IO Device is established. The MAC address is assigned by the hardware manufacturer and cannot be changed.
The Field Device Address dialog (Figure 1) can be accessed by selecting the VIM Placeholder and locating a device in the right pane.

Name
Each PROFINET device has a name associated with it. The name is normally used to describe its position or purpose in the process. PROFINET names are similar to DNS names in that the name is broken into components, each separated by a period. Below are the name restrictions.
- Limit of a total of 127 characters (letters 'a' to 'z', numbers '0' to '9', hyphens, periods).
- A name component within the device name, a character string between two periods, for example, must not be longer than 63 characters. A name cannot use more that 63 characters without using a period.
- No special characters like umlauts, parentheses, underscore, slash, space etc. The hyphen is the only special characters allowed.
- The device name must not contain uppercase letters.
- The device name must not begin nor end with the '-' or '.' character.
- The device name must not begin with a number.
- The device name must not have the form 'n.n.n.n' (n = 0..999). Specifically, do not use an IP address in the name.
- The device name must not begin with the character string 'port-xyz-' (x,y,z = 0..9).
Names are the primary method by which the VIM connects to an IO Device. The PROFINET specification includes a name resolution protocol, called Discovery and Configuration Protocol (DCP). This protocol allows the VIM to locate devices by their name and assign an IP address to an IO Device.
IP Address
Each PROFINET device has an Internet Protocol (IP) address. The IP address is used for initiating the connection and for sending configuration parameters to the IO Device. The VIM is able to assign IP addresses to IO Devices based on their name, using DCP.
The IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway will be assigned to the PROFINET device when the VIM connects. Most IO Devices support this feature. Some IO Devices (Siemens PLC using I-Device) do not support setting the IP address using DCP. In this case, the IP address specified here must match the address already stored in the IO Device.
MAC Address
Allen Bradley Profibus Module
This is a 48 bit address assigned by the IO Device manufacturer. The MAC address uniquely identifies each node on an Ethernet network. This address is used to transfer IO data once the Application Relationship (AR) and Connection Relationships (CR) are established. The PROFINET RT cyclic messages bypasses the IP stack, reducing the network jitter.

DeltaV
Profibus Expansion Modules For Mac Os
The VIM associates a PROFIBUS device in DeltaV to a PROFINET device on the network by using the DeltaV card's slot number (57-64) and the PROFIBUS device address (1-125). These two values uniquely identify a PROFIBUS device in the DeltaV system. If any of the PROFIBUS devices associated with a PROFINET device are enabled in DeltaV, a connection will be opened to the field device. Due to the nature of PROFINET communications, the data associated with the disabled PROFIBUS devices will remain at the last value sent by DeltaV, if a device is disabled, or zero, if it was never enabled.

Note: It is recommended that all PROFIBUS devices for a given connection either be enabled or disabled together, to properly control the output data sent to the field device.
A DeltaV PROFIBUS DP card supports 64 devices per port (it has only one port). A given PROFINET device must be fully contained in a single PROFIBUS DP port in DeltaV. A full sized PROFINET device requires 6 PROFIBUS devices to represent all the data.
